From Contested Claims to Cleared Launch
How Fowoyo Scientific Consulting delivered complete claim substantiation for a premium supplement brand facing regulatory scrutiny — in under eight weeks.
A launch stalled by scientific uncertainty
The client, a growth-stage nutraceutical brand preparing to launch three premium supplement products, found themselves under retailer and regulatory scrutiny. Marketing copy made structure/function claims that the internal team could not independently substantiate with peer-reviewed evidence.
Without documented scientific backing, the launch was at risk of being blocked by the retailer's compliance team and exposed to FTC enforcement risk. The brand needed not just literature review, but a coherent, defensible scientific narrative structured to the standards of regulatory review.
Rigorous evidence. Clear conclusions.
FSC conducted a systematic review of the clinical and mechanistic literature for each active ingredient across all three formulations. Rather than compiling a list of studies, FSC built a structured evidence hierarchy — distinguishing robust clinical data from mechanistic in vitro data, animal findings, and emerging evidence.
Where evidence was strong, FSC produced substantiation dossiers formatted for both internal compliance and potential external regulatory review. Where gaps existed, FSC advised the client on conservative claim language that retained commercially impactful positioning while remaining scientifically defensible.
What FSC delivered
Each deliverable was structured for both internal use by the brand's leadership team and presentation to retailer compliance and regulatory review cycles.
Results that moved the business
Within the eight-week engagement, all three products received the scientific documentation required to satisfy retailer compliance. The brand launched on schedule with confidence in its scientific position.
We came to FSC with a launch on the line and no idea how to defend our claims scientifically. They didn't just send us a literature list — they built us an airtight dossier that our retailer's compliance team accepted without a single follow-up question. That's the kind of scientific credibility we simply couldn't have built internally.
The regulatory landscape for supplement claims has fundamentally shifted
Retailers, distributors, and enforcement bodies are applying greater scrutiny to structure/function claims than at any point in the past decade. Brands that cannot produce robust, evidence-mapped substantiation dossiers are increasingly finding themselves blocked from shelves or exposed to enforcement action after launch.
For consumer health brands, scientific credibility is no longer a nice-to-have. It is a prerequisite for sustainable market access. FSC provides the scientific infrastructure that allows brands to move quickly — and confidently.
